Monday Morning Scripture (Wk31/2021) – Romans 8:31-39

More Than Conquerors
³¹What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
³²He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?³³Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
³⁴Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
³⁵Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
³⁶As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
³⁷No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
³⁸For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
³⁹neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thursday Morning Prayer (Wk30/2021)

Abba Father, I awake thanking You for a new day, what You did for me yesterday and what You intend to do today. I ask for forgiveness of any sin that may stand in the way of me achieving what I am to accomplish and ask for the strength needed to remain focused.

Today, I choose to consecrate myself for Your service. I thank You for being the God that can be approached at any hour, minute and second of any day. I thank You for being a God of forgiveness, so will forgive me of time I may fritter away, rather than be about Your business. There is a saying that the mind is willing but the body is weak, and I can relate. Paul says that Your power is made perfect in his weakness and that is the same for me today. I pray that I may live my life with purpose and to do so I need to position myself; mentally, physically and spiritually. Your Word says that all I need do is ask and I shall receive; seek and I will find; knock and the door will be opened. Therefore, I’m asking for Your direction: I’m seeking Your face in every situation; I’m knocking at the door of opportunity asking that You provide me with the ammunition and agility to shoot down and eliminate whatever blockages, be they mental or physical, preventing me from all that I am to achieve. I understand that You will equip me for every challenge, situation and conversation ahead of me. My Father and my God, I trust in You.

Put On The New Self

¹³bearing graciously with one another, and willingly forgiving each other if one has a cause for complaint against another; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so should you forgive.
¹⁴Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in [unselfish] love, which is the perfect bond of unity [for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others].

Wednesday Morning Scripture (1) (Wk30/2021) – Psalm 34

The Lord, a Provider and the One Who Rescues Me.
¹ I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord; the humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice.
³O magnify the Lord with me, And let us lift up His name together.
⁴ I sought the Lord [on the authority of His word], and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.
⁵ They looked to Him and were radiant; their faces will never blush in shame or confusion.
⁶ This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him from all his troubles.

¹⁶ The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
¹⁷ When the righteous cry [for help], the Lord hears and rescues them from all their distress and troubles.
¹⁸ The Lord is near to the heartbroken and He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin).
¹⁹ Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, but the Lord rescues him from them all.
²⁰ He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
²¹ Evil will cause the death of the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be held guilty and will be condemned.
²² The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

Put On the New Self

¹ Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

²Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].

³For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.

⁴When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

⁵So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God].

⁶Because of these [sinful] things the [divine] wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience [those who fail to listen and who routinely and obstinately disregard God’s precepts],

⁷and in these [sinful things] you also once walked, when you were habitually living in them [without the knowledge of Christ].

⁸But now rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, malice, slander, and obscene (abusive, filthy, vulgar) language from your mouth.

⁹Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its evil practices,

¹⁰and have put on the new [spiritual] self who is being continually renewed in true knowledge in the image of Him who created the new self—

¹¹a renewal in which there is no [distinction between] Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, [nor between nations whether] barbarian or Scythian, [nor in status whether] slave or free, but Christ is all, and in all [so believers are equal in Christ, without distinction].
