Thursday Morning Scripture – Job 23

Job Says He Longs for God

Then Job answered and said,

“Even today my complaint is contentious;
His hand is heavy despite my groaning.

“Oh, that I knew where I might find Him,
That I might
[even] come to His seat!

“I would present my cause before Him
And fill my mouth with arguments.

“I would learn the words which He would answer,
And understand what He would say to me.

“Would He contend against me with His great power?
No, surely He would give attention to me.

“There the righteous and upright could reason with Him;
So I would be acquitted forever by my Judge.

“Behold, I go forward (to the east), but He is not there;
I go backward
(to the west), but I cannot perceive Him;

To the left (north) He turns, but I cannot behold Him;
He turns to the right hand
(south), but I cannot see Him.

10 “But He knows the way that I take [and He pays attention to it].
When He has tried me, I will come forth as
[refined] gold [pure and luminous].

11 “My feet have carefully followed His steps;
I have kept His ways and not turned aside.

12 “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;
I have kept the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

13 “But He is unique and unchangeable, and who can turn Him?
And what His soul desires, that He does.

14 “For He performs what is planned (appointed) for me,
And He is mindful of many such things.

15 “Therefore I would be terrified at His presence;
When I consider
[all of this], I tremble in dread of Him.

16 “For God has made my heart faint,
And the Almighty has terrified me,

17 But I am not silenced by the darkness [of these woes that fell on me],
Nor by the thick darkness which covers my face.

Thursday Morning Scripture – 2 Corinthians 4

Paul’s Apostolic Ministry

1 Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as we received mercy [from God, granting us salvation, opportunities, and blessings], we do not get discouraged nor lose our motivation.

But we have renounced the disgraceful things hidden because of shame; not walking in trickery or adulterating the word of God, but by stating the truth [openly and plainly], we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

But even if our gospel is [in some sense] hidden [behind a veil], it is hidden [only] to those who are perishing;

among them the god of this world [Satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelieving to prevent them from seeing the illuminating light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves [merely] as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give us the Light of the knowledge of the glory and majesty of God [clearly revealed] in the face of Christ.

But we have this precious treasure [the good news about salvation] in [unworthy] earthen vessels [of human frailty], so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be [shown to be] from God [His sufficiency] and not from ourselves.

We are pressured in every way [hedged in], but not crushed; perplexed [unsure of finding a way out], but not driven to despair;

hunted down and persecuted, but not deserted [to stand alone]; struck down, but never destroyed;

10 always carrying around in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the [resurrection] life of Jesus also may be shown in our body.

11 For we who live are constantly [experiencing the threat of] being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the [resurrection] life of Jesus also may be evidenced in our mortal body [which is subject to death]

12 So physical death is [actively] at work in us, but [spiritual] life [is actively at work] in you.

13 Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had, who wrote in Scripture, “I believed, therefore I spoke.” We also believe, therefore we also speak,

14 knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and will present us [along] with you in His presence.

15 For all [these] things are for your sake, so that as [God’s remarkable, undeserved] grace reaches to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of [our great] God.

16 Therefore we do not become discouraged [spiritless, disappointed, or afraid]. Though our outer self is [progressively] wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day.

17 For our momentary, light distress [this passing trouble] is producing for us an eternal weight of glory [a fullness] beyond all measure [surpassing all comparisons, a transcendent splendor and an endless blessedness]

18 So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable.

2 Corinthians 4:1-18 (AMP)

Thursday Morning Scripture – 1 Peter 1

A Living Hope, and a Sure Salvation

1 Peter, an apostle (special messenger, personally chosen representative) of Jesus Christ,

To those [elect—both Jewish and Gentile believers] who live as exiles, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia [Minor], and Bithynia, who are chosen

according to the foreknowledge of God the Father by the sanctifying work of the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ and to be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace [that special sense of spiritual well-being] be yours in increasing abundance [as you walk closely with God].

Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant and boundless mercy has caused us to be born again [that is, to be reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] to an ever-living hope and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 [born anew] into an inheritance which is imperishable [beyond the reach of change] and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,

who are being protected and shielded by the power of God through your faith for salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.

In this you rejoice greatly, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,

so that the genuineness of your faith, which is much more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested and purified by fire, may be found to result in [your] praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and though you do not even see Him now, you believe and trust in Him and you greatly rejoice and delight with inexpressible and glorious joy,

receiving as the result [the outcome, the consummation] of your faith, the salvation of [a]your souls.

10 Regarding this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace [of God] that was intended for you, searched carefully and inquired [about this future way of salvation]

11 seeking to find out what person or what time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He foretold the sufferings of Christ and the glories [destined] to follow.

12 It was revealed to them that their services [their prophecies regarding grace] were not [meant] for themselves and their time, but for you, in these things [the death, resurrection, and glorification of Jesus Christ] which have now been told to you by those who preached the gospel to you by the [power of the] Holy Spirit [who was] sent from heaven. Into these things even the angels long to look.

13 So prepare your minds for action, be completely sober [in spirit—steadfast, self-disciplined, spiritually and morally alert], fix your hope completely on the grace [of God] that is coming to you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

14 [Live] as obedient children [of God]; do not be conformed to the evil desires which governed you in your ignorance [before you knew the requirements and transforming power of the good news regarding salvation]

15 But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your conduct [be set apart from the world by your godly character and moral courage]

16 because it is written, “You shall be holy (set apart), for I am holy.”

17 If you address as Father, the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in [reverent] fear [of Him] and with profound respect for Him throughout the time of your stay on earth

18 For you know that you were not redeemed from your useless [spiritually unproductive] way of life inherited [by tradition] from your forefathers with perishable things like silver and gold,

19 but [you were actually purchased] with precious blood, like that of a [sacrificial] lamb unblemished and spotless, the priceless blood of Christ.

20 For He was [b]foreordained (foreknown) before the foundation of the world, but has appeared [publicly] in these last times for your sake

21 and through Him you believe [confidently] in God [the heavenly Father], who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are [centered and rest] in God.

22 Since by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves for a sincere love of the believers, [see that you] love one another from the heart [always unselfishly seeking the best for one another]

23 for you have been born again [that is, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] not of seed which is perishable but [from that which is] imperishable and immortal, that is, through the living and everlasting word of God.

24 For,

ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS.
THE GRASS WITHERS AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF,

25 BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER.”

And this is the word [the good news of salvation] which was preached to you.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – I Am Faithful

My child,

I am faithful to My core.

I passionately pursue you and I take such great delight in you.

I am yours and you are mine. It is My joy to be one with you.

Today, I want you to reflect on My faithfulness. Remind yourself of this important truth, that I am a faithful Father whose love endures forever.

Response:

Spend some time reflecting on God’s faithfulness and if you can, write, sing, or speak out declarations of praise and gratitude for the times you have experienced this aspect of His character. You can use the words below to help guide you in this process:

Father,

You have been so faithful to me! You have been light to me in the moments of chaos and darkness. You have brought me through pain and disappointment. You have kept me from harm and defended me when I felt weak.

When I believed I couldn’t fight anymore, you lifted the sword from my hand and reminded me that I was victorious in you.

I lift up my praise to you today, my glorious Father. My heart cries out in gratitude:

You are faithful!

You are faithful!

You are faithful!

Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

Wednesday Morning Scripture – Deuteronomy 7

Warnings

1 “When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you are entering to possess, and has cleared away many nations before you, the Hittite and the Girgashite and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than you,

and when the LORD your God gives them over to you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall not make a covenant (treaty) with them nor show mercy and compassion to them.

You shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter for your son;

for they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods; then the anger of the LORD will be kindled and burn against you and He will quickly destroy you.

But this is how you shall deal with them: you shall tear down their altars and smash to pieces their sacred pillars, and cut down their Asherim (symbols of the goddess Asherah), and burn their carved or sculpted images in the fire.

For you are a holy people [set apart] to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be a people for His own possession [that is, His very special treasure].

“The LORD did not love you and choose you because you were greater in number than any of the other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.

But because the LORD loves you and is keeping the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed (bought) you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

10 but repays those who hate Him to their faces, by destroying them; He will not hesitate with him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face.

11 Therefore, you shall keep (follow, obey) the commandment and the statutes and judgments (precepts) which I am commanding you today.

Promises of God

12 “Then it shall come about, because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the [steadfast] lovingkindness which He swore to your fathers.

13 He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your [olive] oil, the offspring of your cattle and the young of your flock, in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you.

14 You shall be blessed above all peoples; there will be no male or female barren (childless, infertile) among you or among your cattle.

15 The LORD will take away from you all sickness; and He will not subject you to any of the harmful diseases of Egypt which you have known, but He will impose them on all [those] who hate you.

16 And you shall consume all the peoples whom the LORD your God will give over to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be a [deadly] trap to you.

17 “If you say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I am; how can I dispossess them?’

18 you shall not be afraid of them; you shall remember [with confidence] what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt—

19 the great trials which you saw with your own eyes, and the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the LORD your God brought you out. So shall the LORD your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.

20 Moreover, the LORD your God will send the hornet (His terror) against them, until those who are left and hide themselves from you perish.

21 You shall not dread them, for the LORD your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God.

22 The LORD your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for [if you did] the [a]wild animals would become too numerous for you.

23 But the LORD your God will hand them over to you, and will confuse them with a great panic until they are destroyed.

24 And He will hand over their kings to you, and you will make their name perish from under heaven; no man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.

25 You shall burn the carved and sculpted images of their gods in the fire. You shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, so that you will not be ensnared by it [in a deadly trap], for it is an abomination (repulsive) to the LORD your God.

26 You shall not bring an abomination (idol) into your house, and like it come under the ban (doomed to destruction); you shall utterly detest and you shall utterly hate it, for it is something banned.

    Wednesday Morning Scripture – Hebrews 10:1-25

    One Sacrifice of Christ Is Sufficient

    1 For since the Law has only a shadow [just a pale representation] of the good things to come—not the very image of those things—it can never, by offering the same sacrifices continually year after year, make [a]perfect those who approach [its altars]

    For if it were otherwise, would not these sacrifices have stopped being offered? For the worshipers, having once [for all time] been cleansed, would no longer have a consciousness of sin.

    But [as it is] these [continual] sacrifices bring a fresh reminder of sins [to be atoned for] year after year,

    for it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

    Therefore, when Christ enters into the world, He says,

    “SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, BUT [INSTEAD] YOU HAVE PREPARED A BODY FOR ME TO [OFFER];

    IN BURNT OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES FOR SIN YOU HAVE TAKEN NO DELIGHT.

    “THEN I SAID, ‘BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD—[TO FULFILL]
    WHAT IS WRITTEN OF ME IN THE SCROLL OF THE BOOK.”

    After saying [in the citation] above, “You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin” (which are offered according to the Law)

    then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” [And so] He does away with the first [covenant as a means of atoning for sin based on animal sacrifices] so that He may inaugurate and establish the second [covenant by means of obedience]

    10 And in accordance with this will [of God] we [who believe in the message of salvation] have been sanctified [that is, set apart as holy for God and His purposes] through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) once for all.

    11 Every priest stands [at his altar of service] ministering daily, offering the same sacrifices over and over, which are never able [b]to strip away sins [that envelop and cover us]

    12 whereas Christ, having offered the one sacrifice [the all-sufficient sacrifice of Himself] for sins for all time, sat down[signifying the completion of atonement for sin] at the right hand of God [the position of honor]

    13 waiting from that time onward until his enemies are made a footstool for His feet.

    14 For by the one offering He has perfected forever and completely cleansed those who are being sanctified [bringing each believer to spiritual completion and maturity]

    15 And the Holy Spirit also adds His testimony to us [in confirmation of this]; for after having said,

    16 “THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD:
    I WILL IMPRINT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART, AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL INSCRIBE THEM
    [PRODUCING AN INWARD CHANGE],”

    He then says,

    17 “AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS ACTS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE [NO LONGER HOLDING THEIR SINS AGAINST THEM].”

    18 Now where there is [absolute] forgiveness and complete cancellation of the penalty of these things, there is no longer any offering [to be made to atone] for sin.

    A New and Living Way

    19 Therefore, [c]believers, since we have confidence and full freedom to enter the Holy Place [the place where God dwells] by [means of] the blood of Jesus,

    20 by this new and living way which He initiated and opened for us through the veil [as in the Holy of Holies], that is, through His flesh,

    21 and since we have a great and wonderful Priest [Who rules] over the house of God,

    22 let us approach [God] with a true and sincere heart in unqualified assurance of faith, having had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

    23 Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]

    24 and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds,

    25 not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.

    Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – In My Hand

    Oh, My children, I recognise you are in a season of intensified experiences which causes heightened emotions. There are many of you who have been battling with feelings of fear, anxiety, grief, disappointment, and isolation. They have clouded your view and prevented you from hearing My voice.

    There are those who haven’t understood when you have tried to share your experiences and others were simply too busy with their own battles to accommodate yours. This is a challenging spiritual climate!

    Although it may not seem to be the case, you have already overcome. Submit your emotions to Me and as you do so, we will make an exchange.

    Take My garment of praise.

    Receive My oil of gladness.

    Wear My love and stability.

    Embrace My strengthening joy.

    Let Me saturate you with My peace.

    I will take your overwhelming and debilitating state of mind and will empower you to hear Me clearly as I give you strategies to overcome.

    Activation:

    Write down a list of the things that are causing you to feel worried and hand them to the Lord. Thank Him for the things He is placing in your hand instead of these worries (such as joy, love, peace, and soundness of mind).

    The Cure for Anxiety

    25 “Therefore I tell you, stop being worried oranxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?

    26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

    27 And who of you by worrying can add one [a]hour to [the length of] his life?

    28 And why are you worried about clothes? See how the lilies and wildflowers of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin [wool to make clothing]

    29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory and splendor dressed himself like one of these.

    30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive and green today and tomorrow is [cut and] thrown [as fuel] into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

    31 Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’

    32 For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

    33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

    34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

        Tuesday Morning Scripture – Isaiah 61

        Exaltation of the Afflicted

        1 The Spirit of the LORD God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me to bring good news to the humble and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted, to proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives and freedom to prisoners,

        2 To proclaim [a]the favorable year of the LORD, [b]And the day of vengeance and retribution of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

        3 To grant to those who mourn in Zion the following: to give them a [c]turban instead of dust [on their heads, a sign of mourning], the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called the trees of righteousness [strong and magnificent, distinguished for integrity, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

        4 Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up and restore the former desolations; and they will renew the ruined cities, the desolations (deserted settlements) of many generations.

        5 Strangers will stand and feed your flocks, and foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers.

        6 But you shall be called the priests of the LORD; people will speak of you as the ministers of our God. You will eat the wealth of nations, and you will boast of their riches.

        7 Instead of your [former] shame you will have a [d]double portion; and instead of humiliation your people will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore in their land they will possess double [what they had forfeited]; everlasting joy will be theirs.

        8 For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery with [e]a burnt offering. And I will faithfully reward them, and make an everlasting covenant with them.

        9 Then their offspring will be known among the nations, and their descendants among the peoples. All who see them [in their prosperity] will recognize and acknowledge them that they are the people whom the LORD has blessed.

        10 I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has covered me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom puts on a [f]turban, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

        11 For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring up, so the LORD God will [most certainly] cause righteousness and justice and praise to spring up before all the nations [through the power of His word].

        [b] Isaiah 61:2 See note Ezek 34:28.

        [c] Isaiah 61:3 In the Hebrew there is a kind of wordplay here as “turban” (Heb pe’er)and dust (epher) have the same consonants and similar vowels.

        [d] Isaiah 61:7 i.e. abundant reward.

        [e] Isaiah 61:8 Another reading is wrongdoing or malice, but by itself either would hardly be an improvement. Some prefer to read with as “and,” which requires the assumption of a scribal error that is possible though not found in existing manuscripts. It would also raise the question of why robbery is singled out among other kinds of wrongdoing. In the Talmud the verse is taken to refer literally to the theft of an animal which the thief intends to offer as a sacrifice. The point is that the offering is unacceptable even though everything actually belongs to God and the thief arguably is only returning to God what is His.

        Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Fourth in the Fire

        Beloved, when in the fiery trials of life – from persecution, affliction, consequences or refinement – the enemy covets your compromise. He craves to see you crumble under the heat. Know these trials are on the rise as the enemy becomes bolder in showing himself. In these times, I ask you to trust Me just as the faithful three in the furnace. At all costs, please do not compromise! Not your faith, not your hope, and not your worship.

        If you don’t, you invite Me to be that fourth in the fire with you.

        No fire can consume Me for I am the Fire of fires!

        I promise to bring you under the protection of My wing. I will see to it that the only thing scorched on you are the cords that bind you, for I am the Master Protector and Deliverer of My people.

        Release all fear to Me.

        Let Me shield you until the fire has ceased.

        You will not come out smelling burned. You will come out smelling like the flowery fragrance of Heaven because you stayed close to Me. Then all will know you serve the Most High God, faithful to those who trust Him!

        Activation: Read Daniel 3 and then ask yourself what areas you are experiencing a fiery trial. Is it at work, church, home, ministry, finances, or relationships? Whatever the area, repent for compromising in any way through doubt, lost hope, retreat, etc. Invite God in to be “the fourth in the fire” with you. Release it all to Him, and receive His peace. In complete trust, take His hand and allow Him to protect you. Acknowledge the fire is temporary, and He will fulfil His promise of seeing you through to the end. Then fix your eyes on Jesus your living hope, knowing He will deliver, restore and promote you for your faithfulness.

        He answered, “Look! I see four men untied, walking around in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt! And the appearance of the fourth is like [a]a son of the gods!”

        Footnotes

        [a] Daniel 3:25 The kjv has “the Son of God” here, referring to the pre-incarnate Christ, because the usual term for God is Elohim, a plural form. Even if it was the pre-incarnate Christ, however, the pagan king would not have had Him in mind but a “son” of the Babylonian gods, perhaps a minor deity or an angel. The ancient rabbis of course would have fought any attempts by Christians to equate the fourth person in the furnace with the Son of God, so they portrayed God as turning Nebuchadnezzar over to Satan for punishment for the words he exclaimed here, as if he did in fact say “Son of God,” and they made out v 28 to be a confession on the king’s part that what he saw was after all just an angel.

          “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you.

          Isaiah 43:2 (AMP)
