Tuesday Morning Scripture – Exodus 34

The Two Tablets Replaced

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Cut two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you smashed [when you learned of Israel’s idolatry]

So be ready by morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain.

No man is to come up with you, nor let any man be seen anywhere on the mountain; nor let flocks or herds feed in front of that mountain.”

So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and he got up early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took [a]the two tablets of stone in his hand.

Then the LORD descended in the cloud and stood there with Moses as he proclaimed the Name of the LORD.

Then the LORD passed by in front of him, and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth (faithfulness)

keeping mercy and lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; but He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting (avenging) the iniquity (sin, guilt) of the fathers upon the children and the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations [that is, calling the children to account for the sins of their fathers].”

Moses bowed to the earth immediately and worshiped [the LORD]

And he said, “If now I have found favor andlovingkindness in Your sight, O LORD, let the LORD, please, go in our midst, though it is a stiff-necked (stubborn, rebellious) people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your possession.”

The Covenant Renewed

10 Then God said, “Behold, I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people I will do wondrous works (miracles) such as have not been created or produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people among whom you live shall see the working of the LORD, for it is a fearful and awesome thing that I am going to do with you.

11 “Be sure to observe what I am commanding you this day: behold, I am going to drive out the Amorite before you, and the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

12 Watch yourself so that you do not make a covenant (solemn agreement, treaty) with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a [dangerous] trap among you.

13 But you shall tear down and destroy their [pagan] altars, smash in pieces their [sacred] pillars (obelisks, images) and cut down their [b]Asherim

14 —for you shall not worship any other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous (impassioned) God [demanding what is rightfully and uniquely His]—

15 otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land and they would play the prostitute with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and someone might invite you [c]to eat his sacrifice (meal)

16 and you might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters would play the prostitute with their gods and cause your sons also to play the prostitute (commit apostasy) with their gods [that is, abandon the true God for man-made idols].

17 You shall make for yourselves no molten gods.

18 “You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover). For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out of Egypt.

19 “All the firstborn males among your livestock belong to Me, whether cattle or sheep.

20 You shall redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb; but if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem all the firstborn of your sons. None of you are to appear before Me empty-handed.

21 “You shall work for six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; [even] in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest [on the Sabbath]

22 You shall observe and celebrate the Feast of Weeks (Harvest, First Fruits, or Pentecost), the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering (Booths or Tabernacles) at the year’s end.

23 Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD [d]God, the God of Israel.

24 For I will drive out and dispossess nations before you and enlarge your borders; nor shall any man covet (actively seek for himself) your land when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times a year.

25 “You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread, nor shall the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover (Unleavened Bread) be left over until morning.

26 “You shall bring the very first of the first fruits of your ground to the house of the LORD your God.

“You shall not [e]boil a young goat in his mother’s milk [as some pagans do].”

27 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”

28 Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread and drank no water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

Exodus 34:1-28 (AMP)

Tuesday Morning Scripture – Jeremiah 29

Message to the Exiles

1 Now these are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the rest of the elders in exile and to the priests, the prophets and all the people whom [a]Nebuchadnezzar had taken into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

2 (This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes (court officials) of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem.)

The letter was hand-carried by Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, saying,

“So says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the captives whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon,

‘Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit.

Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there and do not decrease [in number]

Seek peace and well-being for the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace.’

For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Do not let your [false] prophets who are among you and your diviners deceive you; pay no attention and attach no significance to the dreams which they dream or to yours,

for they prophesy falsely to you in My Name. I have not sent them,’ says the LORD.

10 “For thus says the LORD, ‘When seventy years [of exile] have been completed for Babylon, I will visit (inspect) you and keep My good promise to you, to bring you back to this place.

11 For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

12 Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you.

13 Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

14 I will be found by you,’ says the LORD, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the LORD, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’

15 “Because you [who have remained in Jerusalem] have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’

16 thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who live in this city, your brothers (fellow people of Judah) who did not go with you into captivity— 17 thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Behold (listen very carefully), I am sending the sword, famine, and virulent disease (pestilence) on them, and I will make them like rotten figs that are so bad they cannot be eaten. 18 I will pursue them with the sword, with famine and with virulent disease; and I will make them a terror (warning) to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, a horror, a hissing, and a disgrace among all the nations to which I have driven them,

19 because they have not listened to  and  honored My words,’ says the LORD, ‘which I sent to them again and again by My servants the prophets. Moreover, you [exiles] did not listen [either],’ says the LORD.

20 Hear, therefore, the word of the LORD, all you exiles whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

21 “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying lies to you in My Name, ‘Behold, I will hand them over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will slaughter them before your eyes [yes, all the false prophets in Babylon whom you follow shall die]

22 Because of them, this curse shall be taken up and used by all the exiles from Judah who are in Babylon, saying, “May the LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,

23 because they have acted foolishly in Israel and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives and in My Name have spoken false and concocted words, which I did not command them. I am He who knows and I am a witness,” says the LORD.’”

24 Also you shall speak to Shemaiah of Nehelam [among the exiles in Babylon], saying,

25 “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

26 “The LORD has made you [Zephaniah] priest instead of Jehoiada the [deputy] priest, to be the overseer in the house of the LORD over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and in the iron collar,

27 now therefore [continued the letter from Shemaiah in Babylon to Zephaniah in Jerusalem], why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who prophesies to you?

28 For he has sent word to us in Babylon, saying, ‘This captivity[of yours] will be long; build houses and live in them and plant gardens and eat their fruit.’”’”

29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter to Jeremiah the prophet.

30 Then came the word of the LORD to Jeremiah, saying,

31 “Send [this message] to all the exiles, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah of Nehelam, “Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, although I did not send him, and he has made you trust in a lie,”

32 therefore thus says the Lord, “Behold, I am about to punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants. He will not have anyone [born] to live among this people, nor will he see the good that I am about to do to My people,” says the LORD, “because he has spoken and preached rebellion against the LORD.”’”

Jeremiah 29:1-32 (AMP)

Footnotes

[a] Jeremiah 29:1 In Hebrew there are two ways of spelling the name of the ruler of Babylon resulting in two English variations: Nebuchadnezzar and Nebuchadrezzar.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Perfect Love

The enemy wants you to believe that you can’t bring your fear into My presence. He whispers that fear is evidence that I am not near or that you must first overcome fear before coming to Me. But this is a lie.

Here’s the truth: I meet you in your fear and give you courage. My love doesn’t require you to have it all together. It’s in My presence that you can hand over your fear, and in exchange, I will fill you with My perfect love. This love leaves no space for fear to remain. I will never forcefully take what you don’t surrender. The invitation is open: come as you are, fear and all. Trust Me to replace fear with My love, to bring you peace where fear has reigned, and to remind you of My constant presence in your life.

    Application:

    1. Take a moment to bring your fears honestly before God in prayer. Tell Him what you’re afraid of and give Him permission to replace it with His love.

    2. Remind yourself of His promises daily through His Word. His truth frees you from the lies of fear and strengthens your heart.

    3. Spend time in His presence, whether through worship, Scripture, or silence, knowing that you don’t need to fix yourself first—He welcomes you just as you are.

The Truth Will Make You Free

31 So Jesus was saying to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples.

32 And you will know the truth [regarding salvation], and the truth will set you free [from the penalty of sin].”

    John 8:31-32 (AMP)

16 We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.

17 In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love]

19 We love, because [a]He first loved us.

    1 John 4:16-19 (AMP)

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Discipleship

The Spirit of the Lord says:

“I am calling you, My prophetic ones, to be rooted in the vine. This is the season to learn what discipleship truly looks like. I am teaching you My ways of deep rootedness and pruning. Your hearts will become so pure in the discipling that I have for you.  It’s time to become ones who know what it truly means to sit in My heart’s desire. I called you to love your neighbor as yourself and to love the Lord your God with all your heart.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 And Jesus replied to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’

40 The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.”

    Matthew 22:36-40 (AMP)

However, I also gave you this command: “Go and make disciples”.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words],  baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always[remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”

    Matthew 28:19-20 (AMP)

How you make disciples is a direct reflection of how you sit with Me in My discipleship of you.”

    Activation:

Sit with the Holy Spirit and ask, “In what areas can I become a better disciple maker?”

He might surprise you and show you areas you can take someone into deeper areas where they can hear the voice of God for themselves. He might ask you to lead a teaching or a class on prophecy. Don’t feel discouraged or disqualified, as followers of Christ, we are all called to disciple others, this wasn’t just for the 5-fold ministers but to all who come to Jesus.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Milk and Honey

I am calling you to ask me questions, My child. We are going to build something new together, but I want you to collaborate with Me.

For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God

    Hebrews 3:4 (AMP)

Start with what is burning in your heart. For it is I that put it there in the first place. Then come to Me and let’s talk about it. As you do, I will bring you clarity and vision into what seems impossible.

A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life],
But the LORD directs his steps and establishes them.

    Proverbs 16:9 (AMP)

If you yield, I’m going to propel you forward. Let down the “I can’t” of the world and exchange it with kingdom culture that has no limits. Allow Me to push you into the extravagant and the new. Choose to look at what is in front of you with My eyes and I will catapult you and your generations in the land that flows with milk and honey.

27 They reported to Moses and said, “We went in to the land where you sent us; and it certainly does [a]flow with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

28 But the people who live in the land are strong, and the cities are [b]fortified (walled) and very large; moreover, we saw there the descendants of Anak [people of great stature and courage]

29 [The people descended from] Amalek live in the land of the Negev (South country); the Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the [Dead] Sea and along the side of the Jordan.”

30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession of it; for we will certainly conquer it.”

31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people [of Canaan], for they are too strong for us.”

32 So they gave the Israelites a bad report about the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we went, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature.

33 There we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

    Numbers 13:27-33 (AMP)

    Footnotes

[a] Numbers 13:27 This phrase referred to the abundant fertility of the land of Canaan. Milk (typically that of goats and sheep) was associated with abundance; “honey” referred mainly to syrups made from dates or grapes and was the epitome of sweetness. Bees’ honey was very rare and was considered the choicest of foods.

[b] Numbers 13:28 The spies probably had not seen walled cities before, having lived their childhood in Goshen in Egypt. Those who forgot God’s power to help them naturally found the situation formidable.

Read Numbers 13:27-33 and then come back to reflect on the following verses:

      v. 27-29 – As you stay in God’s presence, ask Holy Spirit to show you what your land of milk and honey looks like. Look at its details. Does it frighten you?

      v. 30 – While reading Caleb’s words, do you feel as determined as he is? Let the Lord show you and break off any weaknesses and enhance your tenacity further.

      v. 31-33 – Consider if you have any “I can’t” statements in your mind. Invite Holy Spirit to reveal whatever spiritual blockages you may still have that cause you to see yourself as not enough. Then repent and look in the spirit to see who you truly are. Finally, partner with the Lord to receive new courage, His overview of the land He is sending you to and a quickened step to boldly conquer it.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Confident Trust

My beloved Child! I know that you are trusting Me as best you can. You express your trust in prayer. You act in trust in many challenging situations. You trust Me despite adverse circumstances. However, there is still a lingering fear, a sliver of distrust, a slight questioning whether I am fully trustworthy. You still fear that I might close My hand over you, restraining your freedom. You still fear that I might fail to come through on one of My promises. You still fear that I might turn My eyes from you and abandon you.

My beloved one, these fears that hold you point to negative experiences you have had in life. People can and have failed you but I encourage you today to lay down the mistrust these experiences have taught you. People might have failed you on occasions. They might have treated you unjustly or abused you. You might have felt abandoned and left behind by them. I want to heal these deep soul wounds and restore your trust in Me. The events can’t be changed but let Me in on those memories. Ask man to come into those situations.

Become aware of where I am and what I do and say. Watch Me, listen to Me and let Me protect and heal you. Let Me restore peace and justice in your heart. It is all in My hands and under My control. Where you can’t trust fully, let Me complete and fulfill your trust in Me. I want you to walk in confident trust. This is the only way you can stand firm in the days to come.

      Activation:

Become aware of the Lord’s presence with you in the room. Appreciate Him for who He is. Then ask the Lord to bring forth a memory that is still hurtful. Become aware of Him in the situation and observe what He is doing and saying. Ask Him for help. Let Him bring healing, forgiveness, closure, and peace to the situation. Let Him restore your trust.

Sometimes soul hurts are too deep to deal with it by yourself. If it’s needed, ask a trusted person to pray with you in pursuing freedom and restoration. In those occasions, trusting someone will be the first step to healing and restoration, so that you can start walking in full and confident trust in your Lord and Savior.

For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel has said this,

“In returning [to Me] and rest you shall be saved,
In quietness and confident trust is your strength.”
      But you were not willing,

      Isaiah 30:15 (AMP)

How long will you hide your face from me?
      3
       (2) How long must I keep asking myself what to do,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long must my enemy dominate me?

4 (3) Look, and answer me, Adonai my God!
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death.

Wednesday Morning Scripture – John 14:1-15

      Jesus Comforts His Disciples

1Do not let your heart be troubled (afraid, cowardly). Believe [confidently] in God and trust in Him, [have faith, hold on to it, rely on it, keep going and] believe also in Me.

In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and I will take you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.

And[to the place] where I am going, you know the way.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going; so how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “[a]I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but the [real] Life; through Me.

      Jesus’ Oneness with the Father

If you had [really] known Me, you would also have known My Father. From now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father and then we will be satisfied.”

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time, and you do not know Me yet, Philip, nor recognize clearly who I am? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’

10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you I do not say on My own initiative or authority, but the Father, abiding continually in Me, does His works [His attesting miracles and acts of power]

11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe [Me] [Me] because of the [very] works themselves [which you have witnessed]

12 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father.

13 And I will do whatever you ask in My name [[b]as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son.

14 If you ask Me anything in My name [as My representative], I will do it.

      John 14:1-15 (AMP)

      Footnotes

[a] John 14:6 The sixth of the memorable “I am” statements. See note 6:35.

[b] John 14:13 Acting as Jesus’ representative means that the person calling on His name is in a close relationship with Him and wants what He wants.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Letting Go

The Spirit of the Lord says:

“Many have heard the call that I will do a new thing. Be aware that before I can do a new thing I am calling you to a season of letting go for I cannot bring what I have prepared into a heart that is still stuck in the old. I will not revive the old.  There is always confusion in the letting go, but My instructions are clear.  Have the courage to clear your heart and mind from the clutter of the known to make way for the unknown. I know forgetting the former things is not comforting to you and that you would much rather be in the safety zone of relying on past teaching, past ways of doing things, past positioning, and sometimes past hurts. Before I can do a new thing you must let go!

Step out of the safety zone of contentment and an apathy of ease and lean on, and trust in Me, even in the small things. In forgetting the former things My Word also says ‘fear not,’ so it is important that you choose to fear Me and nothing else. For when you abide in My reverent and awestruck fear, no other fears will enter your thoughts and decision.”

      Activation:

Isaiah 43:1-2 (NIV): . . . Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Take time to ask God, “Where have I walked in fear and forgotten that I am yours and have not fully relied on you?” Ask Him to forgive you and establish a new level of trust in Him. Ask Him to remove all fears except the fear of the Lord.

Isaiah 43: 10-11; 15 (NIV): . . . Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior . . . I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator, your King.

Declare with all your heart that the Lord is your savior, your creator, your Holy One and King and declare Isaiah 43:18 aloud over yourself: Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Transition

My beloved, this time of transition that many are experiencing right now is a result of My actions, it is by My hand. I am actively tearing things apart and causing disruptions to your comfort zones. As a result, you may feel that some aspects of your life are coming to an abrupt end. The purpose of this process is not only to introduce the new but to also reveal your true heart and the things you are tethered to.

What unholy allegiances are you holding onto?  Which alliances have outlived their expiration date?  Do you remain in these relationships out of a sense of loyalty, even though they lead you away from My heart, My plans, and My purposes?  Will you choose to let go of these things in order to follow Me and embrace the ways of the kingdom as we build something new together? Will you allow these attachments to pull you out of alignment with My timings?

As we navigate this intense evaluation together, consider how what is ending is part of My overall design. Is what you are connected to truly part of My plan? In this process, you will witness the true loyalties of your heart as they come into full view. Do not be like Lot’s wife as you consider what I am asking you to leave behind with feelings of loss and nostalgia. Longing for the past will prevent you from being fit for My Kingdom. As you choose to move with Me into new spaces, new realities, new revelations, and assignments, you must let go of any desire for a relationship with the past. It is essential to separate yourself from the old and embrace the transition into the new. What I have for you is ready, but you must choose to receive it with your whole heart turned to Me and both hands outstretched toward Me.

      Activation:

The Lord is calling us away from dead things; things that no longer receive the wind of His Spirit. To be fruitful in our assignments, we must choose life in all aspects and willingly let go of what no longer serves Him and His Kingdom. As the Lord has instructed, it is important to engage in deep evaluation with Him, considering how the endings we face are part of His plan.

During your time with Him, consider asking the following questions:

      1. What hidden loyalties or attachments may be hindering my relationship with God?
      2. Are there any alliances or connections that no longer align with God’s purposes for my life?
      3. How can I let go of the past and embrace a future aligned with God’s will?

As you reflect on these questions with the Lord, allow honesty and vulnerability into the conversation. Take some time to journal your insights, realizations, and any emotions that come to the surface during this assessment with Him. Ask the Lord to help you move forward with Him into the new, choosing life by placing your trust in Him, the Faithful and Trustworthy God.

      Abram Journeys to Egypt

Now [in Haran] the LORD had said to Abram,

      “Go away from your country,
      And from your relatives
      And from your father’s house,
      To the land which I will show you;

      Genesis 12:1 (AMP)

60 But He said to him, “Allow the  [spiritually] dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and spread the news about the kingdom of God.”

61 Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord [as Your disciple]; but first let me say goodbye to those at my home.”

62 But Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back [to the things left behind] is fit for the kingdom of God.”

      Luke 9:60-62 (AMP)

“The heart is deceitful above all things
      And it is
       [a]extremely sick;
Who can understand it fully and know its secret motives?

10 “I, the LORD, search and examine the mind,
      I test the heart,
To give to each man according to his ways,
According to the results of his deeds.
