Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Wrong Yokes

The Spirit of the Lord says:

I am removing the yoke of relationships that have drawn you away from Me. Some relationships in your life are holding you back from entering into My presence and your purpose. You are aligned with the wrong people.

Instead, be yoked with Me. When you walk with Me, I will shoulder the burden of your purpose alongside you. No longer will you strain against what is fleeting and temporary. Together, we will work toward what has eternal value. I will give you rest and bless the work of your hands. I will heal the pain you’ve endured from being yoked with those I did not choose for you because I’ve seen your struggle. Early in the morning, I will come to rescue you, free you from this bondage, and lead you on the right path.

Application:

Take time to pray about each of your relationships and ask God to reveal His will for them. Surrender these relationships to Him, trusting that He will guide you into connections that align with His purpose for your life. God is faithful to heal the wounds caused by harmful relationships and to lead you into partnerships that bear fruit for His Kingdom.

28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]

29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) FOR YOUR SOULS.

Matthew 11:28-29 (AMP)

Do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Milestone Moment

The Spirit of the Lord says:

Just as a man runs a race set before him, there are half-way milestones that refresh and bring cheer to help you continue to go through the next mile. So too in this season, remember that this is a marathon not a sprint. We are hitting a milestone moment of refreshing and cheering that will bolster your ability to continue forward and not relent.

Just as a marathon has refreshing stations, I am calling you into My refreshing station, for it is time to see new definitions of rest.  Many see rest as simply a slumber, but I say it’s a time of refreshing. Just as a runner will pause momentarily to get water, I too am asking you to refresh with living water and then get on your way. This season will be tiring and trying (James 1:2-4) and you will feel a desire to partner with the apathy in the air. Yet I say today, slow and steady wins the race set before you.

You must earnestly pursue this season and allow Me to refresh you. Do not sprint or shortcut your way out of this season. Instead, learn what it means to enjoy the milestone moments. Enjoy the pit stops throughout the race.

Activation:

Ask God what brings refreshment to your soul and spirit? Ask God how you can partner with Him in this refreshment and what does it look like to rest temporarily at each Milestone Moment?

Consider it nothing but joy, my [a]brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials.

Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]

And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.

James 1:2-4 (AMP)

Footnotes

Jesus, the Example

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of [a]witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us,

2 [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, [b]disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work].

Just consider and meditate on Him who endured from sinners such bitter hostility against Himself [consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:1-3 (AMP)

Footnotes

[a] Hebrews 12:1 i.e. the people commended for their faith in ch 11. See 11:2, 39.

[b] Hebrews 12:2 Sometimes the public shame of the cross is overlooked when one thinks of the pain and agony inflicted by it, but in the Roman Empire crucifixion was a shameful and disgraceful way to die, a form of capital punishment from which Roman citizens were exempt; and in Roman comedy it was used in a curse: “Go to a bad cross!”

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – See With My Eyes – A Holy Moment

Just as in the days of chaos when the earth was void, without form, and dark, I am moving upon the face of the earth. And amidst the chaos, I have felt the deep hunger and desperation of the people who want true freedom from the wicked oppression of Pharoah – a freedom that only I can give. This is a holy moment.

Just as Moses encountered Me at the burning bush and I commissioned him, I am now commissioning you to go and boldly proclaim My message. Break the bands of wickedness as you cry out and call My people back to Me. You must also reach out to those who do not know Me, instructing them to turn to Me with all their hearts. Now is the time to seek Me and to find Me.

As I commission you for this purpose, I ask you today: Will you press in for all that I am? Will you come to meet with Me when I call? Will you stand for Me, and will you be satisfied with Me alone? I long for My bride, yearning for her dedication. I desire to see My bride entirely devoted to Me and completely in love with only Me.

My people, you must seek Me. Meet and connect with Me daily, and share your heart and life with Me. In seeking Me, you will find life! Abide in Me, and you will multiply and bear much fruit. I will bless you wherever you go!

Application:

Take a moment to reflect with God on the tasks and people He is calling you to serve. Genuinely ask Him to help you evaluate the following areas:

  • Am I being fruitful in the assignments He has given me?
  • Am I truly multiplying what He has entrusted to me according to His standards?

Additionally, ask Him if there is a need for you to change your approach to be more impactful for His Kingdom. Whatever guidance He provides, follow His instructions. By doing so, you will be truly fruitful as you multiply for the Kingdom of God.

Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13 (AMP)

Behold, I stand at the door [of the church]  and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him (restore him), and he with Me.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – See With My Eyes

I Am the Creator of heaven and earth.  I Am the Master of the universe, and I Am the Lord of all. I long to share My vision and My perspectives with you. I want you to see the world around you with My eyes. I will grant you My perspective on situations, events, and relationships. Let us sit and watch together.  Although we may see the same things, we might not see them in the same way. Your view and My view on things and events might differ. So I want to share My point of view with you.

I want to give you My redemptive sight as I enable you to see the same way as Me. I will open your eyes to see the world as I do, and you will look at what I see as beautiful and enjoy it as I do. I will enable you to look closely at the broken, the distorted, and the dark, and see them through the lenses of My eyes. I see through the ashes and find the original beauty. I look at the broken and see the original creation. I observe the distorted and perceive the original truth. I recognize darkness and it is dispelled under My eyes of fire.

As you see with My eyes, you will see through the physical reality before you and into the origin of My creation and My original plans.

Activation:

Invite Jesus to sit with you. Picture Him sitting next to you as you reflect on the situations, events, and encounters you will face today—whether they are joys or challenges, like a meeting with friends, a strained relationship, a job interview, an exam, or an ordinary workday. Ask Him to help you see everything through His eyes. Request His perspective on these experiences as you intentionally seek to understand the unseen reality of His creation that lies beyond the visible world. Allow His truth to fill you and resonate within you, as you walk with Him throughout your day.

21 In that very hour He was overjoyed  and rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and He said, “I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things [relating to salvation] from the [a]wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to infants [the childlike and untaught]. Yes, Father, for this way was  [Your gracious will and choice, and was]  well-pleasing in Your sight.

22 All things have been transferred and  turned over to Me by My Father and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him.”

23 Then turning to His disciples, Jesus said privately, “Blessed [joyful, spiritually enlightened, and favored by God] are the eyes which see what you see,

Luke 10:21-23 (AMP)

Footnotes

[a] Luke 10:21 An ironic criticism of the Jewish leaders who regarded the followers of Jesus as childlike and untaught.

16 But blessed [spiritually aware, and favored by God] are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

17 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, many prophets and righteous men [who were honorable and in right standing with God] longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

Matthew 13:16-17 (AMP)

For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God].

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Because You Love Me

My child, now is the time to be so captivated with Me. For then your eyes will continue to stay focused on Me. Lift up your eyes and see Me. I am looking for those who will love Me with a pure, unadulterated love. I am jealous to have all of you. I am jealous for all of your affections.

My child, are you totally focused on Me? Or do other things grab your attention? This is a season to behold Me in a deeper, more intimate way. Are you willing to let go of those things that distract you from Me?

Activation:

Spend time with the Lord and allow Him to show you those things that distract you from Him. Read and meditate on Psalm 91:14-16.

14 “Because he set his love on Me, therefore I will save him;
I will set him
[securely] on high, because he knows My name [he confidently trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never abandon him, no, never].

15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.

16 “With a long life I will satisfy him
And I will let him see My salvation.”

Psalm 91:14-16 (AMP)

As you do, allow the Lord to reveal His promises to you. If you struggle to receive His love and promises, take note of that and ask for revelation from the Lord as to why you struggle to believe. Ask for direction on how to move forward with what He shows you.

—for you shall not worship any other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous (impassioned) God [demanding what is rightfully and uniquely His]

Exodus 34:14 (AMP)

14 I will be found by you,’ says the LORD, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the LORD, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’

Tuesday Morning Scripture – Exodus 34

The Two Tablets Replaced

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Cut two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you smashed [when you learned of Israel’s idolatry]

So be ready by morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain.

No man is to come up with you, nor let any man be seen anywhere on the mountain; nor let flocks or herds feed in front of that mountain.”

So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and he got up early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took [a]the two tablets of stone in his hand.

Then the LORD descended in the cloud and stood there with Moses as he proclaimed the Name of the LORD.

Then the LORD passed by in front of him, and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth (faithfulness)

keeping mercy and lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; but He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting (avenging) the iniquity (sin, guilt) of the fathers upon the children and the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations [that is, calling the children to account for the sins of their fathers].”

Moses bowed to the earth immediately and worshiped [the LORD]

And he said, “If now I have found favor andlovingkindness in Your sight, O LORD, let the LORD, please, go in our midst, though it is a stiff-necked (stubborn, rebellious) people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your possession.”

The Covenant Renewed

10 Then God said, “Behold, I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people I will do wondrous works (miracles) such as have not been created or produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people among whom you live shall see the working of the LORD, for it is a fearful and awesome thing that I am going to do with you.

11 “Be sure to observe what I am commanding you this day: behold, I am going to drive out the Amorite before you, and the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

12 Watch yourself so that you do not make a covenant (solemn agreement, treaty) with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a [dangerous] trap among you.

13 But you shall tear down and destroy their [pagan] altars, smash in pieces their [sacred] pillars (obelisks, images) and cut down their [b]Asherim

14 —for you shall not worship any other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous (impassioned) God [demanding what is rightfully and uniquely His]—

15 otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land and they would play the prostitute with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and someone might invite you [c]to eat his sacrifice (meal)

16 and you might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters would play the prostitute with their gods and cause your sons also to play the prostitute (commit apostasy) with their gods [that is, abandon the true God for man-made idols].

17 You shall make for yourselves no molten gods.

18 “You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover). For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out of Egypt.

19 “All the firstborn males among your livestock belong to Me, whether cattle or sheep.

20 You shall redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb; but if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem all the firstborn of your sons. None of you are to appear before Me empty-handed.

21 “You shall work for six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; [even] in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest [on the Sabbath]

22 You shall observe and celebrate the Feast of Weeks (Harvest, First Fruits, or Pentecost), the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering (Booths or Tabernacles) at the year’s end.

23 Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD [d]God, the God of Israel.

24 For I will drive out and dispossess nations before you and enlarge your borders; nor shall any man covet (actively seek for himself) your land when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times a year.

25 “You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread, nor shall the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover (Unleavened Bread) be left over until morning.

26 “You shall bring the very first of the first fruits of your ground to the house of the LORD your God.

“You shall not [e]boil a young goat in his mother’s milk [as some pagans do].”

27 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”

28 Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread and drank no water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

Exodus 34:1-28 (AMP)

Tuesday Morning Scripture – Jeremiah 29

Message to the Exiles

1 Now these are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the rest of the elders in exile and to the priests, the prophets and all the people whom [a]Nebuchadnezzar had taken into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

2 (This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes (court officials) of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem.)

The letter was hand-carried by Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, saying,

“So says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the captives whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon,

‘Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit.

Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there and do not decrease [in number]

Seek peace and well-being for the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace.’

For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Do not let your [false] prophets who are among you and your diviners deceive you; pay no attention and attach no significance to the dreams which they dream or to yours,

for they prophesy falsely to you in My Name. I have not sent them,’ says the LORD.

10 “For thus says the LORD, ‘When seventy years [of exile] have been completed for Babylon, I will visit (inspect) you and keep My good promise to you, to bring you back to this place.

11 For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

12 Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you.

13 Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

14 I will be found by you,’ says the LORD, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the LORD, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’

15 “Because you [who have remained in Jerusalem] have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’

16 thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who live in this city, your brothers (fellow people of Judah) who did not go with you into captivity— 17 thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Behold (listen very carefully), I am sending the sword, famine, and virulent disease (pestilence) on them, and I will make them like rotten figs that are so bad they cannot be eaten. 18 I will pursue them with the sword, with famine and with virulent disease; and I will make them a terror (warning) to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, a horror, a hissing, and a disgrace among all the nations to which I have driven them,

19 because they have not listened to  and  honored My words,’ says the LORD, ‘which I sent to them again and again by My servants the prophets. Moreover, you [exiles] did not listen [either],’ says the LORD.

20 Hear, therefore, the word of the LORD, all you exiles whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

21 “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying lies to you in My Name, ‘Behold, I will hand them over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will slaughter them before your eyes [yes, all the false prophets in Babylon whom you follow shall die]

22 Because of them, this curse shall be taken up and used by all the exiles from Judah who are in Babylon, saying, “May the LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,

23 because they have acted foolishly in Israel and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives and in My Name have spoken false and concocted words, which I did not command them. I am He who knows and I am a witness,” says the LORD.’”

24 Also you shall speak to Shemaiah of Nehelam [among the exiles in Babylon], saying,

25 “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

26 “The LORD has made you [Zephaniah] priest instead of Jehoiada the [deputy] priest, to be the overseer in the house of the LORD over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and in the iron collar,

27 now therefore [continued the letter from Shemaiah in Babylon to Zephaniah in Jerusalem], why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who prophesies to you?

28 For he has sent word to us in Babylon, saying, ‘This captivity[of yours] will be long; build houses and live in them and plant gardens and eat their fruit.’”’”

29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter to Jeremiah the prophet.

30 Then came the word of the LORD to Jeremiah, saying,

31 “Send [this message] to all the exiles, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah of Nehelam, “Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, although I did not send him, and he has made you trust in a lie,”

32 therefore thus says the Lord, “Behold, I am about to punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants. He will not have anyone [born] to live among this people, nor will he see the good that I am about to do to My people,” says the LORD, “because he has spoken and preached rebellion against the LORD.”’”

Jeremiah 29:1-32 (AMP)

Footnotes

[a] Jeremiah 29:1 In Hebrew there are two ways of spelling the name of the ruler of Babylon resulting in two English variations: Nebuchadnezzar and Nebuchadrezzar.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Perfect Love

The enemy wants you to believe that you can’t bring your fear into My presence. He whispers that fear is evidence that I am not near or that you must first overcome fear before coming to Me. But this is a lie.

Here’s the truth: I meet you in your fear and give you courage. My love doesn’t require you to have it all together. It’s in My presence that you can hand over your fear, and in exchange, I will fill you with My perfect love. This love leaves no space for fear to remain. I will never forcefully take what you don’t surrender. The invitation is open: come as you are, fear and all. Trust Me to replace fear with My love, to bring you peace where fear has reigned, and to remind you of My constant presence in your life.

    Application:

    1. Take a moment to bring your fears honestly before God in prayer. Tell Him what you’re afraid of and give Him permission to replace it with His love.

    2. Remind yourself of His promises daily through His Word. His truth frees you from the lies of fear and strengthens your heart.

    3. Spend time in His presence, whether through worship, Scripture, or silence, knowing that you don’t need to fix yourself first—He welcomes you just as you are.

The Truth Will Make You Free

31 So Jesus was saying to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples.

32 And you will know the truth [regarding salvation], and the truth will set you free [from the penalty of sin].”

    John 8:31-32 (AMP)

16 We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.

17 In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love]

19 We love, because [a]He first loved us.

    1 John 4:16-19 (AMP)

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Discipleship

The Spirit of the Lord says:

“I am calling you, My prophetic ones, to be rooted in the vine. This is the season to learn what discipleship truly looks like. I am teaching you My ways of deep rootedness and pruning. Your hearts will become so pure in the discipling that I have for you.  It’s time to become ones who know what it truly means to sit in My heart’s desire. I called you to love your neighbor as yourself and to love the Lord your God with all your heart.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 And Jesus replied to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’

40 The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.”

    Matthew 22:36-40 (AMP)

However, I also gave you this command: “Go and make disciples”.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words],  baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always[remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”

    Matthew 28:19-20 (AMP)

How you make disciples is a direct reflection of how you sit with Me in My discipleship of you.”

    Activation:

Sit with the Holy Spirit and ask, “In what areas can I become a better disciple maker?”

He might surprise you and show you areas you can take someone into deeper areas where they can hear the voice of God for themselves. He might ask you to lead a teaching or a class on prophecy. Don’t feel discouraged or disqualified, as followers of Christ, we are all called to disciple others, this wasn’t just for the 5-fold ministers but to all who come to Jesus.

Lion Bites – Global Prophetic Alliance – Milk and Honey

I am calling you to ask me questions, My child. We are going to build something new together, but I want you to collaborate with Me.

For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God

    Hebrews 3:4 (AMP)

Start with what is burning in your heart. For it is I that put it there in the first place. Then come to Me and let’s talk about it. As you do, I will bring you clarity and vision into what seems impossible.

A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life],
But the LORD directs his steps and establishes them.

    Proverbs 16:9 (AMP)

If you yield, I’m going to propel you forward. Let down the “I can’t” of the world and exchange it with kingdom culture that has no limits. Allow Me to push you into the extravagant and the new. Choose to look at what is in front of you with My eyes and I will catapult you and your generations in the land that flows with milk and honey.

27 They reported to Moses and said, “We went in to the land where you sent us; and it certainly does [a]flow with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

28 But the people who live in the land are strong, and the cities are [b]fortified (walled) and very large; moreover, we saw there the descendants of Anak [people of great stature and courage]

29 [The people descended from] Amalek live in the land of the Negev (South country); the Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the [Dead] Sea and along the side of the Jordan.”

30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession of it; for we will certainly conquer it.”

31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people [of Canaan], for they are too strong for us.”

32 So they gave the Israelites a bad report about the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we went, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature.

33 There we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

    Footnotes

[a] Numbers 13:27 This phrase referred to the abundant fertility of the land of Canaan. Milk (typically that of goats and sheep) was associated with abundance; “honey” referred mainly to syrups made from dates or grapes and was the epitome of sweetness. Bees’ honey was very rare and was considered the choicest of foods.

[b] Numbers 13:28 The spies probably had not seen walled cities before, having lived their childhood in Goshen in Egypt. Those who forgot God’s power to help them naturally found the situation formidable.

Read Numbers 13:27-33 and then come back to reflect on the following verses:

      v. 27-29 – As you stay in God’s presence, ask Holy Spirit to show you what your land of milk and honey looks like. Look at its details. Does it frighten you?

      v. 30 – While reading Caleb’s words, do you feel as determined as he is? Let the Lord show you and break off any weaknesses and enhance your tenacity further.

      v. 31-33 – Consider if you have any “I can’t” statements in your mind. Invite Holy Spirit to reveal whatever spiritual blockages you may still have that cause you to see yourself as not enough. Then repent and look in the spirit to see who you truly are. Finally, partner with the Lord to receive new courage, His overview of the land He is sending you to and a quickened step to boldly conquer it.
