Sunday Morning Scripture (Wk40/2021) – Psalm 139:1-18

Your precious thoughts towards me outnumber the sand on the seashores

God’s Omnipresence and Omniscience

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.

2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do]; You understand my thought from afar.

3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and You are intimately acquainted with all my ways.

4 Even before there is a word on my tongue [still unspoken], behold, O Lord, You know it all.

5 You have enclosed me behind and before, and [You have] placed Your hand upon me.

6 Such [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high [above me], I cannot reach it.

7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?

8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead), behold, You are there.

9 If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,

10 Even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will take hold of me.

11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me, and the night will be the only light around me,”

12 Even the darkness is not dark to You and conceals nothing from You, but the night shines as bright as the day; Darkness and light are alike to You.

13 For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb.

14 I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was being formed in secret, and intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written the days that were appointed for me, When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

18 If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.

Tuesday Morning Scripture – Psalm 37:21-40 (AMP)

Security of Those Who Trust in the Lord, and Insecurity of the Wicked.

A Psalm of David.

21 The wicked borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is gracious and kind and gives.

22 For those blessed by God will [at last] inherit the land, but those cursed by Him will be cut off.

23 The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord, and He delights in his way [and blesses his path].

24 When he falls, he will not be hurled down, because the Lord is the One who holds his hand and sustains him.

25 I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous (those in right standing with God) abandoned or his descendants pleading for bread.

26 All day long he is gracious and lends, and his descendants are a blessing.

27 Depart from evil and do good; and you will dwell [securely in the land] forever.

28 For the Lord delights in justice and does not abandon His saints (faithful ones); They are preserved forever, but the descendants of the wicked will [in time] be cut off.

29 The righteous will inherit the land and live in it forever.

30 The mouth of the righteous proclaims wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice and truth.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; Not one of his steps will slip.

32 The wicked lies in wait for the righteous and seeks to kill him.

33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand or let him be condemned when he is judged.

34 Wait for and expect the Lord and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land; [In the end] when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked, violent man [with great power] spreading and flaunting himself like a cedar in its native soil,

36 Yet he passed away, and lo, he was no more; I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the blameless man [who is spiritually complete], and behold the upright [who walks in moral integrity]; There is a [good] future for the man of peace [because a life of honor blesses one’s descendants].

38 As for transgressors, they will be completely destroyed; The future of the wicked will be cut off.

39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their refuge and stronghold in the time of trouble.

40 The Lord helps them and rescues them; He rescues them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in Him.

Monday Morning Prayer (Wk44/2021)

Abba! Father! As I awake this morning, I give You all glory, honour, thanks and praise. I have been given another moment, another day, which means You have not finished with me yet; there is much left for me to do. Therefore, I place my life in Your hands and ask You to have Your way, covering me, so I may be continually equipped, guided and protected from all pertaining to evil. Forgive me of all sins, whether they be of thought, word or deed and allow me to submit to Your will and Your way. May I continue to look to Christ, The Messiah, as my example.

Today, I pray that You open the eyes and ears of my heart, that I may see and hear what You have planned for me. May You be the compass for my day, so whatever I come across will be events that will teach me who I am within You. Your Word tells me to ask and I will receive; seek and I will find; knock and the door will be opened. I thank You for what You have done in the past; what You are doing right now; and what You have instore for my future. I thank You that You hold my life in Your hands. I pray that in all I do I am able to share to whom I owe my hope and praise and why. My Father and my God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, I put all my hope and trust in You.

1 Do not worry because of evildoers, nor be envious toward wrongdoers;

2 For they will wither quickly like the grass, and fade like the green herb.

Psalm 37:1-2 (AMP)

35 After going a little farther, He fell to the ground [distressed by the weight of His spiritual burden] and began to pray that if it were possible [in the Father’s will], the hour [of suffering and death for the sins of mankind] might pass from Him.

36 He was saying, “[a]Abba, Father! All things are possible for You; take this cup [of judgment] away from Me; but not what I will, but what You will.”

Mark 14:35-36 (AMP)

And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the [a]hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the [b]saints (God’s people),

Ephesians 1:18 (AMP)

20 Now may the God of peace [Who is the Author and the Giver of peace], Who brought again from among the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood [that sealed, ratified] the everlasting agreement (covenant, testament),

21 Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; [while He Himself] works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages).

Amen (So be it)
